Difference Between Rate of Rise and Fixed Temp of Heat

Fixed-temperature detectors signal when the detection element is heated to a predetermined temperature point. Rate of rising detectors signals when the temperature rises to a level exceeding a predetermined degree. The heat detector response to the heat released from the fire i.e., The hot air when touches the detector, and gets activated. The conventional heatwave takes time to reach the product, which means detector activation takes time when compared to other detectors.   Heat Detectors are of 2 types –

1. Fixed temperature
2. Rate of rise

The rate of rise detector is set to operate effectively across the places where equipment or objects are placed and allows a slow increase in temperature with immediate surroundings without sounding an alarm. Heat detectors with the combination of fixed and rate of rise temperature will directly respond to a surrounding temperature that causes the fire. These devices can set to operate rapidly and have low tolerate and respond quickly to a rapid rise in the surrounding temperature. These detectors have high reliability compared to other devices. This leads to less false alarms. These devices activation time is less when compared to other detectors. These devices don’t sense smoke and fire flame visibility is a major disadvantage. Heat detectors are connected in loop because for the longer distance they suffer a change in activation devices.
