Difference Between Smoke and Heat Detector
Smoke and Heat Detector are used to detect the fire. The public needs time to react to fire and these detectors play a vital during a fire emergency.
Smoke detectors are installed to detect the fire that protects both people and property. The property can be a warehouse, commercial building, residential building, office space, commercial space, shopping mall, parking slot, and much more. These detectors detect through the smoke that is released from the fire.
Heat detectors are installed to detect the fire based on temperature. There are 2 kinds of temperature are available in the Heat detector: Rate of rise temperature and Fixed temperature of heat. These detectors help in protecting property based on the temperature. Rate-of-rise compensated fixed-temperature detectors can help to prevent both thermal lag and false alarms due to rapid temperature changes
Why do we use Heat Detector or Smoke Detector?
We use a heat detector to send the signal to the fire alarm panel when the detection element is heated to a predetermined temperature point and when the temperature rises to a level exceeding a predetermined degree. Heat detectors will directly respond to a surrounding temperature that causes the fire. These devices can set to operate rapidly and have low tolerate and respond quickly to a rapid rise in the surrounding temperature.
Smoke detectors are used to detect fire based on smoke release from fire. While fire combustion releases poisonous gases like carbon monoxide and many other gases depends on the environment. At this environment it might be difficult for the heat detector to detect the fire, this is the place where smoke detectors are placed.
